As autumn returns, with clearer skies and leaves beginning to change color, the hearts of the Vietnamese people once again beat with pride. September 2 – the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam – is not only a historic milestone but also a sacred symbol of patriotism, of the yearning for freedom, independence, and happiness.
This year’s autumn is more special than ever, as the whole nation joyfully celebrates the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (1945–2025) – a brilliant turning point that opened a new chapter in the history of Vietnam. It was in that very autumn that, through the blood, determination, and unwavering patriotism of the people, the colonial and feudal regime collapsed, giving way to a new government – by the people and for the people.
Just days later, on September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh solemnly declared the independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam – now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Eighty years have passed, yet that spirit and aspiration still burn brightly in the hearts of millions of Vietnamese.
