I used to think that a desk and a chair were enough to call it a “Home Office”. But no, it was just a messy corner of the house. Where work and inspiration gradually disappeared in a pile of wires. Dim lighting and lifeless walls. As an interior designer, I always help others create their dream spaces. But I myself neglected my creative corner. Until one day I looked back and asked myself: “Why don’t I deserve an inspiring space?”. The journey to renovate my Home Office also began from that moment. A reset not only for the room, but also for the way I live and work every day.
The reason I chose to renovate my Home Office
It all started with a period when I felt like I was slowing down. Both in my work and in my creative inspiration. I didn’t feel as excited as I used to when I sat down at my desk in the morning. Everything around me seemed too old, too stuffy, and no longer suited to the person I was becoming. I called it “the Home Office Crisis.”
As a designer, I understand: the workspace is not just a place to put the laptop. It is a place where thinking is nurtured every day. And if I don’t change, I will be stuck in that old shell forever. I need a new start. A space that is not only beautiful, but also true to my creative personality. I want the desk to be neat, the light must be adequate, and each object must have a reason to exist. That’s when I knew I needed to renovate my own workspace. (Setup Home Office with a budget of 5 million).
Journey to create Home Office
Concept & Design – Redraw Me with a Space
I walked into my old Home Office with a blank notebook and the intention was not simply to renovate. It was to “redesign myself”. As a designer, I have created many spaces for others. But this was the first time I asked myself a very simple question: “If this is the place where I will live with all my ideas, how much does it have to be like me?”
I spent a whole morning listening to myself. Looking at the color palettes, touching the textures. And looking at the light coming through the windows. I didn’t want anything flashy. I wanted something light, modern, but with depth. My style was modern, with a refined minimalism. Where space doesn’t overwhelm people, but supports emotions and thoughts.
I chose white and gray tones as the background, with black accents to create depth. And natural light is the main character of this workspace. All materials are chosen to be easy to maintain, durable and still have high aesthetic beauty. Wood with smooth grain, matte black metal and tempered glass. I built a moodboard that not only contains images. But also contains emotions, peace, clarity and new energy. When finished, I wrote at the top of the moodboard: “The ideal space is the place you want to return to every day.” That is what I am creating. (Top 5 most unique Home Office design trends 2025).
Construction & change each area – Turn dreams into real space
The design on paper is always beautiful, but bringing it to life in reality is another story. And that is also the most interesting part. I started from the center, which is the desk. The old desk was too small, and the wires were tangled, making me sigh every time I opened my laptop. I had a custom-made desk that was proportional to the space. With a smooth, light-colored wooden top and geometric black iron legs. The wires are hidden in a tray attached under the desk. Keeping the desk clean and tidy. Next is the storage system – I designed a row of open shelves that reached the ceiling. Flexible compartmentalization, combining functional and display space.
Books, storage boxes, some collectibles… Everything is arranged like a visual symphony. Lighting is the element I pay the most attention to. I replaced all the thick curtains with thin curtains, allowing natural sunlight to filter in. Bringing in a fresh source of energy. In the evening, I choose a neutral-light desk lamp, just bright enough to help me relax after a stressful day at work.
The decoration corner is small, but it is where I put the most personal feelings. A pot of green monstera placed next to the window. The foliage casts shadows on the white wall every morning, like a fresh breath in the middle of a modern space. On the shelf, I chose to hang a few monochrome abstract paintings. Not too ostentatious, but enough to evoke thoughts. Like necessary pauses between the flow of ideas. Interspersed are a few souvenir cards that I have kept for a long time, small but rich in memories. As if reminding me of the journeys I have traveled.
The Ultimate Technology Device for Home Office
As for the equipment, I upgraded everything to suit the modern working pace. A spacious curved screen for multitasking. A condenser microphone for quality recordings or online meetings. A 360-degree rotating phone holder. And a livestream lamp with just enough soft light to brighten up the face and spirit. Every object is placed in the right place, nothing more, nothing less. That space is not just beautiful to look at. It is designed for living, for working and so that every time I sit down, creative inspiration is naturally sparked. Conclude
As I put the final touches on, I plugged in the desk lamp and watched the light spread across the wooden tabletop. I knew I had accomplished something more important than renovating a room. I had re-created my own space. A place where I would not only work every day. But also live with my passion, with my unformed ideas. From a stuffy corner of the house, the Home Office has now become my “personal studio”. A place where I find peace, focus and inspiration. Sometimes, to change your life, you don’t need to move far away. Just start from the smallest corner and remake it like you are re-creating yourself.
