The moment I walked into the chairman office, and my first feeling was disappointment. A space that should have represented authority and leadership. But the previous contractor had turned it into a distorted copy of the original design. The light was in the wrong direction, the wood tone was off, and the layout was a mess. The president only said one sentence: “Please help me.” And so the rescue journey began. As an architect of Proce, I understood that this was not a matter of fixing a few small mistakes. It was about reviving the entire spirit of an iconic room. And from that moment, I was determined to bring the president’s office back to its rightful place.
1. Step into the “scene” to discover fatal errors
The first day I entered the construction site, I almost stood still. Not because of the overwhelming beauty, but because of the chaos that was unfolding before my eyes. More precisely, it was an abandoned construction “site”. Every step I took felt like I was stepping on the piled-up mistakes of the previous contractor. The old team stood huddled in a corner, arguing quietly about responsibility. The chairman just silently looked around the space. His eyes drooped in disappointment without needing any further explanation.
Serious bugs discovered
From the very first minute, I realized the seriousness of the project. The chairman’s desk was placed completely wrong in terms of feng shui. It made the seating direction lose its solemnity and authority. The lighting system was as messy as a spider web. The lamps were installed off-axis, the wires were tangled outside the wall. The air conditioner blew directly into the main seating position. One of the taboos in a high-level leadership space. The interior materials were also a big disappointment. The veneer had different colors in patches, the boards were blistering as if they had been exposed to moisture for a long time. The warped wall panels were very painful to the eyes. The worst thing was that the overall design was distorted compared to the original drawing. It was as if someone had tried to “fix” too much to the point of distorting the design spirit.
At that time, I felt sorry for the project and angry on behalf of the investor. But above all, I felt this was a challenging but interesting problem. An opportunity to “revive” a space that was on the verge of becoming a failed project.
2. Propose a method to rescue the chairman office
After assessing the current situation, I immediately invited the chairman to sit down for a serious discussion. I knew clearly that before touching any details, I needed to deeply understand the expectations, style and message that he wanted this space to convey. The conversation lasted nearly two hours, in which the chairman shared very frankly about the image he wanted to build. A space that affirms the leadership position, but still maintains warmth and sophistication in every detail. I recorded every idea, every nuance, because for me, designing for the leader is not just about interior arrangement. It is about creating an “atmosphere” that is suitable for the personal stature and the company brand.
Next, the Proce team and I began a comprehensive technical survey phase. Every electrical line, every air-conditioning duct, every light fixture was measured, checked, and marked for errors. We made a detailed analysis table, clearly indicating the items that needed to be thoroughly handled. Items that could be retained and items that had to be completely renewed to ensure operational safety. I always reminded the team: “We don’t have to redo everything, but if we fix it, we have to fix it in the right place, according to the right principles.”
Special construction planning
Based on the survey results, I built a special construction plan. We had to speed up the progress without affecting the company’s operations. It was a difficult problem, but completely feasible if we optimized human resources, materials and divided the construction shifts reasonably.
Finally, I presented Proce’s creative plan. Change the layout of the chairman’s desk, redesign 100% of the lighting, synchronize materials and optimize the entire technical system. That was a plan to “rescue” the chairman’s office, both thorough and visionary.

3. Construction process of the chairman office – A race against time
Once the plan was approved, we immediately entered the construction phase. Or rather, the journey of “cosmetic surgery” for a severely damaged building. On the first day of demolition, everyone in the team understood the pressure. The time was extremely urgent, the chairman needed to put the room into use soon. And we were not allowed to make any small mistakes. I divided the work into clear groups. The technical team handled the electrical and air conditioning systems. The carpentry team was in charge of replacing defective wood panels, the finishing team focused on veneer, decor and lighting. All had to coordinate like a machine operating precisely to the minute.
Practical difficulties in the process of constructing the chairman office
However, difficulties always appear when least expected. Data from the old contractor is almost gone. It took us a lot of time to trace back the electrical connections and technical pipes. Some items that we thought could be used were found to be damaged inside when removed. We had to completely rebuild them to avoid future risks. But despite that, the Proce team never faltered. Everyone worked continuously, there were nights when we only had time to sleep for a few minutes right at the construction site.
The most memorable moment was when the last piece of wood was installed. I stood back a few steps and watched the whole space gradually “match” the spirit we had set. From the lighting, the paneling, the interior lines to the overall layout. Everything began to speak the same language. That was the moment I knew for sure: the project was coming back to life and the team’s efforts were on the right track.
4. The results of the handover of the chairman office – When the value of space is redefined
The official handover day took place in an atmosphere of both excitement and nervousness. I arrived early to check every last detail. Was the light shining on the right wall? Was the chairman’s desk placed on the right feng shui axis? Was the veneer tone completely matched between the panels? When everything finally reached the state of completion I wanted, I breathed a sigh of relief.
The space has now completely transformed. All that used to be the “wounds” of the project are now gone. Instead, there is a president’s room that carries the true spirit of luxury and power. The light is soft but clear, the wood panels have the same color tone. The president’s desk is placed in a position that creates a proactive position and wide view. The electrical and air conditioning systems are optimized, operating smoothly and efficiently. Every detail contributes to building an iconic space for the leader.
When the chairman entered, I carefully observed his reaction. At first there was silence, but not the disappointed silence like when I first met him. Rather, the silence of a surprised person. Then he turned to me, nodded very slowly and said: “Exactly what you were looking for. This time it was done perfectly.” That was the most precious recognition an architect could receive.
Proce’s mark
With Proce, we don’t just fix the mistakes of our predecessors. We upgrade the entire value of the space. We turn a once “clinically dead” project into a truly classy product. And for me, this is one of the most memorable journeys in my career.
